Bee Pollen

Bee Pollen or otherwise known as bee bread is a mixture of pollen that is packed by worker honey bees into granulated mass with an addition of honey or nectar. There is also some development of incomplete larvae which are found in brood cells (chambers made of mud and wood by female nesting bees). When the process of collecting the pollen is complete one female will lay eggs on top of the ball like pollen mass which seals the particular brood cell. These ball-like masses made by the honeybees are now collected for food consumption.  This called bee pollen.

The Bee Pollen should not be mistaken for the allergy causing pollen carried by wind from plants. It is very unusual for bee pollen to cause allergic reaction in humans. It contains high levels of protein and is very low in calories. Bee pollen an ideal good food as it is rich source of amino acids, proteins, fatty acids, minerals, bioflavonoids, carbohydrates, enzymes and vitamins

Royal jelly is a secretion made by the worker bees from their salivary glands which contain Vitamin B5, B6 and amino acids in concentrated amounts. Its main purpose is to provide nutrition for the new queen.  This procedure is intended to produce a new queen in the event the current queen bee  just dies. Worker bees get to choose several tiny larvae and feed them with ample amounts of royal jelly in a newly built queen cell where the lava was stationed. Feeding royal jelly to the soon to be queen larvae would trigger the morphing process which will develop the larvae  into a queen bee.

Bees collect nectar from flowers and they use it to produce their own food i.e. honey. The regurgitation process by the bees will transform the nectar into honey. They will keep it in their very own storage system which is the wax honeycombs inside their bee hive. The practice of beekeeping encourages the overproduction of honey so that the excess can be harvested from the bee colony. The sweetness of honey is very much the same as granulated sugar. Honey is naturally sweet due to its fructose, glucose and monosaccharide content.  Flavors of honey vary and will depend on the types of nectar the bees had gathered. Honey is now utilized in traditional medicine practice to treat some ailments. In history, honey has been consumed by man as a flavoring, sweetener and for its medicinal properties.
